- To stop spores from spreading, turn off the furnace and air conditioner.
- When vacuuming, keep your dry/wet vacuum outside.
Moldy Carpets Must Be Removed
- Use a utility knife to cut the stained or moldy carpet into sections measuring 6×8 feet.

Restore the damaged area
Seal the room with a sealant.
- Tape the barrier of plastic sheeting overlapping over the doorway to the wall or floor.

- After cleaning the wood, dry it and apply a wood preservative to the difficult areas to remove. Double up any rotten wood with pressure-treated lumber.
Cleaning up and repair
Clean up any debris left behind.
- Use a standard vacuum to remove moldy particles.
- Tip: Get an extra length of hose, and run it outside. This will allow you to keep the spores from spreading further.

Mold Prevention Tips
Once you have learned how to remove mold, it is time to prevent it from happening again. Mold can be stopped by controlling dampness.
