Airbnb’s 5-step enhanced cleaning process

Between guest stays, Hosts must follow the 5-step cleaning procedure.
Step 1.
You and your team can clean more efficiently and safely if you prepare properly. You should:
- When possible, ventilate the area before and during cleaning
- For COVID-19, use disinfectants that have been approved by your local regulatory agency.
- Make sure you read all warnings and directions on cleaning products.
- Your hands should be washed or disinfected
Step 2: Clean
Cleaning refers to removing dirt and dust from surfaces such as floors and worktops. You should:
- Before you sanitize, sweep, vacuum, dust, and/or mop the areas.
- Launder dishes and wash laundry at the highest heat setting
- Use soap and water to clean any hard surfaces
Step 3: Sanitise
You use chemicals to kill bacteria on surfaces like doorknobs or TV remotes when you sanitize. Be sure to:
- Use a disinfectant spray to clean high-touch surfaces in every room
- Allow the disinfectant to sit for the time indicated on the product label
- Let the surface air dry
Step 4: Make sure you are checking
It’s a good idea after you have finished sanitizing to check that you didn’t miss anything. Be sure to:
- To ensure you don’t miss a spot, refer to your handbook for the best practices in each area.
- These best practices can be shared with your cleaning staff and hosting team
Step 5: Reset
Cross-contamination can be prevented by finishing cleaning and sanitizing a room before you replace items for the next guest.
- Before you replace guest linens, cleaning supplies or cleaning kits, wash your hands.
- Wash and dispose of protective gear and cleaning supplies safely
- After a room has been cleaned, don’t allow yourself to re-enter it.
- Between each turnover, clean your equipment
