Montego Bay is the most visited destination in Jamaica. It has the busiest airport in the Caribbean.

Visitors worldwide arrive at Sangster International Airport to be whisked off for their all-inclusive resorts. Exploring Jamaica is also essential, so we have compiled a list of the top things to do in Montego Bay and popular day trips.

Things to Do in Montego Bay

We have been to Jamaica four more times, and we can share our honest opinions about how enjoyable they are and whether they are worth the effort. Even more, suggestions have been made for what to avoid when visiting Jamaica. Book your airport transfer from Montego Bay Airport to any hotel on the island.

Adventures In Montego Bay

This article has been divided into sections, ranging from more adventurous activities in Montego Bay to more relaxing ones. We also offer a team about where to stay in Montego Bay if you plan on staying there. We also have some highly rated recommendations. We are open to your opinion.

Horseback riding and swimming

This is one of the most memorable excursions you will ever make in your entire life. It’s a dream to swim with horses in the Caribbean Sea.

You’ll start the Tour with a 30-45-minute trail ride through farmland and jungle trails. Then, you’ll stop at a beach to take the obligatory photos. The corral is reached via the beach. After a 30-45 minute ride, you’ll return to the corral and take a short ride through shallow water before changing horses and embarking on the ride.

Take a tour to St. Anne, stopping at Chukka Cove. You can swim for 15 minutes while riding on the back of a horse to the sea. Everyone wears a flotation device, and horses are great swimmers. You are safe because at least three guides will ride horses with you.

Mystic Mountain Bobsleigh

Many people will recall the film Cool Runnings starring John Candy, which tells the story of the first Jamaican Bobsled team to compete in the Calgary Olympics in 1988. Red Stripe sponsored their participation in the PyeongChang Olympics. They went on to become world stars.

Mystic Mountain is a must-see tourist attraction in the Caribbean. You can try bobsledding yourself. You can take a chairlift up the mountain to reach the Olympic museum. You will find Donavon Baily (a Canadian favorite), Usain Bolt (a Jamaican star), and the Jamaican Bobsled team.

You can stay, enjoy the pool, or jump on your bobsled to shoot down Mystic Mountain. This is a great way to have a fun adventure in Jamaica.

Martha Brae Bamboo Rafting

A bamboo rafting trip down the Martha Brae River is romantic and relaxing. It is a beautiful scene as you glide through jungle scenery and old plantations.

Our friendly guide guides the bamboo raft through the maze of trees and rocks. You will find bars, shops, and rope swings along the route. So bring money to have a drink on the river. Although there is little chance of getting wet on the river, a dry bag can be helpful to ensure your wallet and cameras are dry.

Book an excursion to Martha Brae River with Your Guide – Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before.

Zip Line Jamaica

Although many zip lines and canopy tours are available in Jamaica, most Montego Bay tours take place in Montpellier. This 2-hour Tour takes you through the trees and over the river as you learn more about the flora & fauna. You must climb ladders and stand on ledges, but you are always secured.

River Tubing – Montpellier

You can take a lazy tour on the river tube after ziplining. Guides are fun and have lots of stories to share. River tubing is similar in concept to bamboo rafting, except that you’re on inner tubes as you glide down the rapids.

  • This Tour is not for white water rafting enthusiasts. It is more laid-back and relaxing.
  • You can check out the prices and book.

Negril to Sail

Set sail to Negril and enjoy the beautiful coast before diving in for snorkeling on the reef. Our snorkeling adventure began with snorkeling. Montego Bay Marine Park, a protected area that preserves the area’s marine life, makes for a great snorkel. We saw trumpetfish, barracuda, and my favorite, the pufferfish.

After looking at the marine wildlife, we swam in Pirates Cave. It is now a fantastic spot to swim and was once used as a bar. This was once the place where pirates kept their treasures. This is why the name.

Rick’s Cafe

Before returning to the mainland, you can stop by Rick’s Cafe to see the famous cliff divers. Tourists are allowed to jump off the cliffs. However, there have been many injuries. It’s better to trust professionals.

Braco Hike & Bike Tour

The Tour begins with a hike up Braco Hill, where you will learn about the island’s flora & fauna. You’ll be rewarded with stunning views and cool towels as you descend the mountain by bike. After all the exercise, you’ll pass through farms and stables before reaching the beach.

Dunns River Falls

Dunns River Falls, located near Ocho Rios, is one of Montego Bay’s most popular day trips. It is about an hour and a quarter drive from the city. Tourists love to climb Dunns River Falls, a cascading waterfall with a height of 180 meters.

Tour operators often offer Duo tours, such as a visit to Dunns River Falls followed by a stop at Green Grotto Caves. You can also choose to Ride and Swim in the morning and then continue to Dunns River Falls at night.

YS Waterfalls

YS Waterfalls, which is about 2-hours from the city, is another excellent place to visit. We enjoyed YS Waterfalls because we hired a private guide, which is highly recommended. It was a great experience that we got more than we could have.

ATV Tour

The ATV Tour at Sandy Bay is an excellent excursion from Montego Bay. Our four-wheelers were pushed up a steep climb to enjoy the stunning views along the coast.

Chukka Tours offers ATV and Dune Buggy tours. You can also ride as a passenger in a Dune Buggy if you don’t feel comfortable driving. Our guides maintained a steady and fun pace, which was a great thing. The thrill was balanced with safety.
