Dyson hair dryer vs airwrap

There are many things to consider when choosing between the Dyson Airwrap Complete Hair Dryer and the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer. Don’t worry, I’ll help you make the right choice. I have owned both the Dyson Hair Dryer and Airwrap for over six months. I can say without doubt that they each have their strengths. After highlighting all of them here, you will not doubt your decision.

What is the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer?

Let’s begin by defining each tool. Dyson’s Supersonic Dryer is a popular and high-powered hair dryer with unique technology that protects hair from heat damage. According to the website of Dyson, “the Supersonic Hair Dryer uses intelligent heat control to keep Dyson’s optimal temperature and prevent extreme heat damages.” Hair that is less damaged reflects the light in one direction and appears shiny.

The dryer also has a microprocessor and digital motor that automatically adjusts the heat settings, claiming again to protect your hair.

It also has magnetic attachments that you can easily remove/swap depending on what style you are looking for. The Styling concentrate is all I use. I have wavy, curly hair, so I love the diffuser. It helps me define my waves and keeps them from frizzing.

What is Dyson Airwrap? How does it work

The Dyson Complete Styler, on the other hand, is a HAIR DRYER AND CURLING IRON ALL IN ONE (kind of, as you’ll soon see)! Not only that, but it does all the work. It’s easy to use. Just place it near your hair. It will curl and dry it in Jetson style.

Dyson claims that the Airwrap uses a heat-controlled system that measures the airflow temperature more than 40 times per second. This allows the heating element temperature to be kept below 302degF and prevents extreme heat damage.

Airwrap Complete Styler includes six attachments that are easily removed/swapped out depending on what style you desire. Most of the time, I only use the 1.6-inch Airwrap barrel. On occasion, depending on my time constraints, I’ll also use the Coanda smoothing drying to tame flyaways.

Can Dyson Airwrap also be used as a blow dryer?

This is, to be honest with you, the biggest flaw of Airwrap. Airwrap technically has a hairdryer attachment. Coanda smoothing drying is a 2-in-1 accessory that works as both a hairdryer and a flyaway smoother. As a flyaway dryer, it’s great. But as a hairdryer, it falls short.

The attachment has a smoother side with pink piping on it (see the right/top photo) and a row of holes (left/bottom, above). This is the “hairdryer” lol. It isn’t very good.

This dryer has no air concentrator, so the air blows out in all directions. This is the opposite of a smoothing dryer.

This attachment does not function like a conventional hair dryer. Since this is the case, it’s safe to say that there isn’t a traditional hair dryer attachment.

You have to choose the right attachment to dry your hair. If you want straight hair, use the brush attachment. If you want curls, use the barrel attachment.

The problem is that I sometimes like to straighten my hair, and the Airwrap brush attachment doesn’t dry the roots as much. This brush attachment does not grab hair very well. You can probably see what I mean, but the bottom line, according to me, is that you cannot use the Airwrap like a conventional hair dryer.

Which is better: Dyson hair dryer or Airwrap

The answer will depend on the type of hair you have and what your hair goal is.

The Dyson Hair Dryer gives you the fastest blowout. The dryer also has a controlled airflow, as it includes an air concentrator to dry straight hair and a diffusor to dry curly hair. This, in my personal opinion, is the best option for those who are pressed for time and want to get their hair as close to its natural state quickly as possible. This option does not offer the Airwrap’s additional styling and attachment options.

With its many attachments, the Dyson Airwrap can be styled in a variety of ways. With the wings, you can dry your hair in a curl, wave, or straight. This option, in my opinion, is best for those who want their hair dried professionally and to achieve a different look (curly hair can also be straightened). This option does not have a hairdryer that has concentrated airflow, and it isn’t as easy to use as a regular blow dryer.

Personally? My hair is thick, gray, and naturally curly. On occasion, I dry my hair straight, and sometimes I dry it in a wave. I still use these two tools. The Dyson Hair Dryer allows me to blow-dry my hair faster and also gets into the roots and scalp. This option is great for those days when I’m pressed for time. (I can blow-dry my hair in less than eight minutes!) This is also a great option for when I’m in a hurry (I can get blown dry in less than 8 minutes!)

This option takes double, sometimes triple, the time compared to the Dyson Hair Dryer…which brings me back to my first point, lol. This option can take up to three times as long as the Dyson hair dryer…which brings me to my original point.
