Take a jog around the neighborhood to see what’s out there, where to buy food, and where to get meds when you’re feeling sick. This tour will help you discover all the most important places around your new city, thus giving you a mental lay of the land.

If you have questions about some of the places you see, ask your neighbors about them. Who knows, if you’re lucky, you might meet a friendly neighbor who can introduce you to different places and warn you about any local issues or challenges.

You probably won’t make friends on the first day, but you can still chat with the old friends you left behind. This will give you a sense of comfort, and you won’t feel so alone. You might even end up making plans for them to visit you in their free time.
